Greetings gentle readers!
As many of you have probably seen, I’ve been releasing (re-releasing, technically) a Starforged series (part 1 and part 2 are out so far) weekly for a couple weeks now. There are three more entries remaining, after which I will be taking the rest of the year off from publishing new long-form content. I will hopefully have new content sometime in the New Year, but I am not currently sure what that might be.
With all that said, I want to also thank the 255 (and growing) of you who have subscribed to my newsletter and interact with my fiction. It means the world and you are very much appreciated.
A Look Back on 2024…
This year, I have posted twenty-three newsletters beginning in January with my EXPLORE24 series. We adventured in Four Against Darkness with the Chasm Crawlers from April to June. In July, we set off with the Broadcove Survivors as they navigated the treacherous island and escaped mostly intact (we will miss you, Arthur).
I also released two games and an adventure module this year. Rogue Tower, a rogue-lite TTRPG where you become a faceless, nameless Rogue seeking riches and adventure in one of the many towers that litter the landscape. Rogue Tower was originally inspired by the amazing video game Die in the Dungeon by Alarts, as well as Slay the Spire and a host of other rogue-lite games.
Oathbound: Trials of Caernlun, a dungeon crawler inspired by Dark Fort and the King Arthur mythos, sees your Knight venturing through the mystically protected fortress of Caernlun in the post-apocalyptic medieval world of the Chainlands. Several of you play-tested this one, and provided amazing feedback and suggestions that made the game so much better.
I also released a starter adventure for Ironsworn called Escape at the request of the Ironsworn on the Ironsworn subreddit. This adventure was designed to serve as a segue from the most widely known TTRPG into the solo adventuring of Ironsworn (which will forever be my favorite TTRPG). The adventure walks you through character creation, providing suggested stat assignments based on the kind of character you want to play (there are four, roughly corresponding to the traditional RPG classes). The adventure gives you the opportunity for two vows, one relatively easy (the titular Escape!) and another optional one that might take much longer.
All of these games are Pay What You Want on my itch page, along with other games I’ve created (just not this year).
As the year winds down, I want to thank you all for following along with my adventures!
— Eric
If I ever get into Ironsworn, I'll definitely have to pick up that adventure.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your year and get some great relaxation in.
Can't wait to see what next year brings.
Congratulations on an excellent year!
